General

What is your location? How do I get there?

Adventure Pedlars HQ is located halfway between Hope and Castleton in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire. It is easily accessible from public transport, with the closest train station being Hope (Derbyshire) just 2km away. There is also a bus which links from Hope Station, and from Sheffield. Click for recent timetables. It is also possible to drive, however, with limited parking, we advocate car-sharing where possible.

Where can I stay prior to or after my Adventure Pedlars Escape or Course?

We have a bunkhouse available at Adventure Pedlars HQ. If you are booked onto one of our Bikeglamping Escapes, this is included in the price. If you are booked onto one of our Introduction to Bikepacking Courses, this can be added on for a special rate of £25 (mixed dorm) - please get in touch to reserve your place.

If you are booked onto one of our bikepacking escapes as a group, you might want to book out the whole place - please check out our Air BnB listing for more information: LINK

Alternatively, there is a plethora of accomodation in the Hope Valley to suit every budget, from friendly B+B’s, Pubs, Cottages and a YHA in Castleton (a stones throw from our HQ), Hathersage and Edale.

I want to ‘escape’ for longer than a night - is this possible?

Yes, this is not only possible, we encourage it! We can create bespoke bikepacking and bikepacking escapes to suit your requirements. Essentially, we take the hassle out of your ‘escape’ by planning your route and providing all the kit. All you need to do is turn up with your personal kit, a sleeping bag and a sense of adventure, we’ll sort the rest.

If you want to head out on your own adventure, we can hire bikes and equipment for weeks at a time if required!

I would like to go on a self-guided bikepacking trip, but don’t want to go it alone. Can I join a group?

Absolutely! We have ‘open’ dates available for both our guided Introduction to Bikepacking Course and our self-guided bikepacking escapes. There is also the option to have a 1:1 guided bikepacking experience.

Can I do a bikepacking trip anywhere apart from the Peak District?

YES! Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Can you cater for dietary requirements on the bikeglamping escape?

Of course! But please get in touch to let us know prior to your escape :-)

Can I use my own bike?

Yes, of course! It’s great to be able to take your trusty steed on holiday with you! Our range of luggage fits a variety of bikes.

Will it get cold at night?

For the bikeglamping escapes our luxury bell tents come with a built in stove to help keep you toasty at night, couple this with your sleeping bag and people tend to stay nice and warm. We would still recommend thermal layers for the chillier evenings. A jacket for sitting around the camp-fire at night is definitely recommended.

For the bikepacking escapes, it is recommended to bring extra clothing, including thermal layers to help keep you toasty at night. Part of our expert tuition before setting you out will include techniques and strategies for staying warm and dry too.

Can we book a bikepacking/bikeglamping escape as a family with children?

A resounding yes! We fully encourage family escapes by bicycle! Each escape we provide is fully customisable, so you can be confident we can put something together which is just right for you.

I would like to book a group for a bikepacking escape but I’m not sure how many people I can get together, what are my options?

This often happens… Our suggestion is that you fill out the booking form to reserve your date. We can then ‘fine tune’ the number of participants and organise the specific equipment needs at a later date (but no later than 2 weeks prior to the trip).

What level of Experience do I need for the Intro to Bikepacking course?

No previous off-road cycling or mountain biking experience is required, but you do need to be happy to cycle 20-30 miles a day.

& what kit do I need?

Please click here for the full kit list CLICK!. You have the option to bring your own bike, or to hire one of our fit-for-purpose ‘adventure’ bikes. You can also hire any wild-camping equipment you might need. All bike luggage is included in the price.

Can I book on the course as an individual?

Yes. This course brings together like minded people so it is quite usual to receive bookings from individuals.

Bikepacking Escapes:

When you fill out the bikepacking escape booking form, we will then email you with your date confirmation and a request for a £30 non-refundable deposit/booking fee for your entire group to reserve your date.

We will also ask you to fill out a ‘hire booking form’ to indicate which hire equipment you will require. You can do this as a group, or as individuals, but it needs to be completed 2 weeks prior to your escape so that we can ensure we have the correct kit for you.

The balance on the escape needs to be paid at least 2 weeks prior to the trip.

REFUNDS: If you cancel with more than 2 weeks advance notice, we can offer a 100% refund (minus the booking fee). If the cancellation is less than 2 weeks, unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund. However, we try to be supportive as life happens sometimes, and may be able to offer alternative dates.

HIRE

I would like to hire bike luggage and/or wild camping equipment, can this be delivered?

Yes, we can deliver our luggage and wild camping equipment to a UK address. We will send out the equipment to arrive the day before your hire period, and request that you send back the equipment at the end of your hire period. For example, if your hire dates were from Friday to Sunday, we would get the equipment sent out to you by the Thursday and you would email though proof of return postage on the Monday.

Do I need to hire the equipment for the days in the post?

No, we will only charge you for your hire period. We will send out the equipment so that it arrives the day before your hire dates, we then request that you send us proof of postage on the day after the hire period ends. Any additional days beyond this will be charged as further hire.

How much does it cost?

We will send out the parcel to any UK address at a cost of £   in addition to the hire cost. You will then return the equipment to us at your expense, by recorded delivery.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. For all equipment hire, whether collected or delivered, we will require a fully refundable deposit of £____. You will receive this deposit straight back to your account as soon as we receive the equipment.

What  happens if I damage or loose equipment?

If a piece of equipment is lost, then you agree to cover the cost of replacing that piece of equipment. This will be taken from your deposit. If equipment is damaged beyond repair, you agree to replace that piece of equipment. This does not apply to general wear and tear.

Is there a cheaper alternative to delivery?

Yes. You are welcome to come and collect all hire equipment from our Adventure Pedlars HQ in the Peak District.
